Modern Art and Politics Lecture

  • Minneapolis Institute of Art 2400 3rd Avenue South Minneapolis, MN, 55404 (map)

Join us for a talk that takes a closer look at specific works in the exhibition “Modern Art and Politics in Germany 1910–1945: Masterworks from the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin.” These case studies include biographical information about the artists as well as stories about what happened to the works themselves between creation and joining the collection at the Neue Nationalgalerie.

Emily Evans is an art historian and longtime researcher on the collection at the Neue Nationalgalerie, the distinguished modern art museum and part of the National Gallery of the Berlin State Museums. Since November 2025, Evans has been responsible for digital documentation of the collection at the Hamburger Bahnhof, another branch of the National Gallery. Her other ongoing research is on provenance and German Expressionism.
