Violence for Violence? The Spook Who Sat By The Door

  • Zoma House 1426 West Lake Street Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55408 (map)

In the Legacy of Toni Cade Bambara Film Screenings and Workshop Series is a gathering for Black folks by Black folks to commune, engage critically with Black film and art, create, connect, converse, and dream. We will feed you. We will host you. We will make you think. All while engaging in a Blackity Black space made by us to celebrate us. All Black ethnicities are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

November's theme, Violence for Violence, examines violence and non-violence as tools that have been used for social change as well as oppression. We will interrogate the notion of the “Master’s Tools”, as named by Audre Lorde, and determine if violence is an appropriate response to continued oppression.
